Solid French spot in DTLA. Came here with a couple of friends having made a reservation beforehand, and we enjoyed a pre-fixe menu of 3 courses each (which was a good deal because we were able to try different things). Of the salad, escargot, and French onion soup, I liked the soup the best. The baguette that came with the escargot was delicious too! Of the beef bourguinon, mussels, and duck, I liked the duck the best for the crisp skin and juicy meat, though the beef was a close second thanks to its tenderness. I had the creme brulee for my dessert but I liked the profiterole better thanks to the generous amount of chocolate and ice cream. Note that the restroom is outside of the restaurant and has a security guard. Limited street parking or you can use a paid garage. There’s a bar connected to it for just drinks that looked cozy. Overall, a cute spot to go on a date or girls night out!
Ever since I came back from France I have struggled to find a restaurant where the food had the same quality as the places I went to while I was there. I finally found it with L'Appart. Much of the staff is French so it makes sense and they were very welcoming and attentive. I had the Onion Soup and Tartare and they were both delicious. The Onion Soup was flavorful and slightly sweet, the amount of cheese was well balanced, and the bread maintained its slight crunch without ever getting too soggy. The Tartare was also perfect and not at all heavy. Everything is also reasonably priced, especially for the quality of the food you get. I'm glad I finally found a place that takes my taste buds back to those amazing days in France 🇫🇷
Taste :4.3/5 Environment: 4.3/5 Service:4.3/5 This place is very French. From the small, slightly hidden interior that feels like a quiet Parisian secret, to servers speaking French-accented English like it’s second nature. 💛 Snails (Escargots) Nice-sized, rich with herb-forward garlic butter. Solid, comforting — not shocking, but respectable. 💛 Duck Leg Confit The reason I came. Generous portion, classic execution, and honestly very fair for the price. A bit salty, yes — but that mashed potato underneath? Dangerously good. 🤤 💛 Profiteroles Huge portion. Like, grand finale energy. Warm choux pastry, ice cream, and chocolate sauce poured with zero hesitation. Traditional French dessert done unapologetically right.
We went here last week and it was the best food we’ve had in a while. We ordered the lamb shank, the duck, mezze platter options, escargot pizza, loaded fries, and three desserts. The wine list is fire, the vibe is romantic and fun. We were treated very well by the owner and staff. Big thank you to the whole restaurant.
It was a great experience! I went with friends for LA restaurant week, and had a fixed menu. All the choices were so good ❤️ As a fellow french woman, I was so pleased with the service and the food
