An evening out on their patio with a view of the bay was magical. We visited the resort in November 2025 and stayed the night Photo also included of the courtyard view from our patio. We dined on the outside patio which had plexiglass walls and plenty of heaters that made this very comfortable on a cool November evening. The wait staff was so attentive checking in frequently and answering any questions. And they have a nice selection of good wines at reasonable prices. Food was so excellent. Menu includes enough items to please anyone. From raw (get the Hamachi Crudo), chicken, pork chops, steaks, ribs, seafood, vegetables dishes, and pasta. This was our dinner, and wows on all of them. Hamachi Crudo $24 with yuzu vinaigrette, avocado, chili oil, sorrel. Miso Black Cod $47 with smoked cauliflower purée, shaved asparagus, toasted sesame, ninja radish, yuzu beurre blanc. Cioppino $46 with mussels, scallops, clams, snapper, shrimp, saffron-tomato emulsion, rouille (a spicy French-style elevated mayonnaise), and grilled sourdough. Oh and butter this excellent sourdough bread and then dip the in the broth. And dessert of course. Warm Fudge Brownie $14 with vegan chocolate (you could not tell this was vegan!), vanilla ice cream, butterscotch sauce.

Met a friend at Mission Bay for a walk and decided to stop in here for dinner. It's right on the bay with a beautiful view from their front outdoor patio. We were seated right away. Our server was very nice and friendly. He took our orders and the food arrived pretty soon after. The wedge salad was perfect for splitting between two people. The lettuce was fresh and crisp. The fried calamari appetizer was delicious. The batter was light and crispy and the calamari was tender. The potato gnocchi was also very good. Soft pillowy gnocchi in a rich creamy sauce.

Went for a breakfast here while staying at Mission Bay Resort. The food was good, I only got eggs, bacon, and potatoes so I can’t truly judge. However, my daughter got a kids meal with pancakes that was great. Service and ambience were amazing.

We always enjoy coming here to Covewood (and it's predecessor) - it’s been our go-to spot for special occasions, my real estate business lunches and networking, and for introducing out-of-towners to that wonderful “Hawaiian resort-style” atmosphere the property is known for. The food is consistently very good, which keeps us coming back several times year after year. Where things can be a bit unpredictable is the level of attentiveness in the service. To be clear, the staff is almost always warm, friendly, and polite — that’s never been the issue. The inconsistency comes in the follow-through: refills and check-ins can be hit or miss. Over the 20 years we’ve been dining here, there have been more than a few times when a simple second glass of wine or cocktail was missed because no one checked back in time. It’s safe to say the hotel has likely lost out on hundreds of dollars in additional beverages from us alone over the years because by the time someone circles back, the meal’s over and we’ve decided to have that after-dinner drink elsewhere. But, we obviously enjoy it enough to keep coming back and I do highly recommend Covewood as a fun atmosphere and enjoyable dining experience!
