First of all, the moment we walk in, the layout and environment was beautiful and astonishing. The Buddha statue is cool and the painting was also pretty. Also there was a DJ which makes it even better. Anyways service was great and although they do charge for water which I’ve never seen before, the food was amazing. The sushi rolls and fried rice was delicious and the rest was great too. I would come back but would probably just try to not drink too much water.
Had a wonderful experience at AKA San Diego. The service from the entire staff was outstanding from the moment we arrived. Everyone was attentive, professional, and made us feel truly welcomed throughout the evening. The sushi was incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared, and the steaks were cooked perfectly with amazing flavor and quality. You can really tell they take pride in both their food and customer service. Thank you to the amazing staff for such a great dining experience.
Joined AKA with a large group for a work convention in town, and had an awesome time. The food and the atmosphere was amazing, elevated by a stellar server named Cru who worked hard (even though it came off effortless) to make sure everyone had a great experience! Shout out to all of the service staff who took care of us, but especially to Cru who deserves all the flowers for taking care of myself and my team so well! Hopefully you’re lucky enough to get him as your server!
My fiancé and I came here for a date night and the experience was fabulous! Martin was our waiter and his service was exceptional, the food was very tasty and the atmosphere was great! Modern, good music, classy!
What a BUMMER! We made our reservation over 2 weeks in advance. When we arrived we were told there was only bar seating available with a small table and stools, dining room was not available (even though we had a reservation). We ordered drinks and were told they were out of the wine so I picked something else …which was fine…but they brought me something completely different which was not good. We ordered the yellow tail and scallop appetizer. The yellowtail was 5 very small pieces ($23) but flavor was pretty good. The scallop appetizer ($22) was essentially a single scallop sliced thin with a few scallions sprinkled on top. No taste. Server mentioned that this was not usually how it was served but the kitchen was really busy with some larger parties. Bummer when you pay $ 26 for an app! We ordered the lamb chops - 3 small ones ($24) which were plain and did not have the sauce as stated on menu. Dan Dan noodles ($28) were ok. Second round of drinks …they brought the wrong wine (again) and brought my husband’s gin and tonic ($17) in a plastic cup …not sure why…we were sitting inside . There was a significant wait time for all drinks and food. Overall the experience was very disappointing. I am not a negative person and have a hard time leaving negative reviews for any restaurant / bar/ hotel or company (see my Google review history) but we are also so disappointed with the food, drinks, and service of this expensive restaurant that we wanted to share our experience with others who are choosing where to celebrate their special occasion, or date night. I highly recommend considering alternative options as we have had much better food and experiences in many other restaurants in SD.
